MISSION

The Tech Way leverages the collective power of the alumni and fans to equip student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary for them to excel both during and beyond their time in Atlanta. More importantly, we seek to help student-athletes maximize their NIL opportunities the right way, without ever compromising the values of the Institute and the legacy of all those who have donned the White and Gold in the past.

FAQs

At present, a minimum of 85% of contributions to the The Tech Way go directly to Georgia Institute of Technology student-athletes. This is attained by keeping the Collective’s costs low while operational functions including IT, legal, marketing materials, content creation, student-athlete education, bookkeeping, and fan engagement experiences. A Board of Directors consisting of alumni, school officials, and local business leaders review the finances of the Collective on a regular basis to ensure funds are spent in ways that benefit the student-athletes.

The Tech Way has entered into a contract with Student Athlete NIL (SANIL) to perform management services for the benefit of the Tech Way. SANIL also will be responsible for facilitating the NIL transactions between fans, donors, corporations and other entities, and Georgia Tech student athletes, in compliance with NCAA regulations. To learn more about SANIL, visit studentathletenil.com. Neither The Tech Way nor any of its officers or directors have any financial interest in SANIL. The officers and directors of The Tech Way are volunteers and will not receive salaries or any other compensation for their work on behalf of The Tech Way.

Yes, The Tech Way members can direct their contribution to a sport, an athlete(s), or the entirety of all student-athletes. Members can also use membership digital platform or contact us directly to use their contribution for a collaboration with a specific student-athlete(s).

Individuals and businesses interested in giving larger contributions (greater than $1,000 per annum) to The Tech Way can contact us directly at [email protected]. For larger contributions, we offer customized solutions to support the personal or professional needs of the contributor.

The beauty of NIL is that it has created a community where student-athletes, fans, and business leaders can connect, collaborate, and create amazing things together. As a member of the The Tech Way, you have the ability to connect directly with your favorite student-athlete and propose their engagement with a marketing partnership, promotional collaboration, or a personal video birthday message to their number one fan. If you have questions or need a little help, just reach out so that we can help form the best partnership possible.

The Tech Way offers student-athletes near limitless opportunities to engage in collaborations including autograph signings, social media promotions, camps and clinics, charity events, special appearances, commercials, and many more.

The value of a marketing collaboration varies based on the popularity of the student-athlete, her/his marketability, the type of activity, and their schedule and availability. If you connect with a Student-Athlete using The Tech Way portal, their specific rates will be posted. If you require a more customized solution, we are happy to help facilitate a marketing collaboration at the most appropriate market rate.

Absolutely. It is our mission to ensure that every student-athlete has the ability to benefit from their name, image, and likeness. While some receive financial remuneration, many others benefit through support of alumni, the local business community, and supporters of the athletic program. We strive to create financial opportunities for every student-athlete, but we also seek opportunities for student-athletes to network, pursue career pathways, and discover experiences manifested through their experience as a student-athlete.

All contracts with student-athletes are limited in time and scope to provide protection for contributor funds in situations where a student-athlete transfers or leaves the University. In any situation, The Tech Way is involved in helping to facilitate a smooth transition.

The Tech Way is not affiliated with the Institute in any way. In fact, Georgia Tech is prohibited by state law from arranging third-party compensation for student-athletes as it relates to NIL. The The Tech Way is a third party entity, governed by a Board of Directors, that supports the needs of the student-athletes through an engaging and collaborative partnership between the fans, alumni, and business community.

Student-athletes cannot enter into deals that promote alcohol, drugs, pharmaceuticals, political advertising, pornography, gambling (or betting), or other opportunities that compromise the values of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Additionally, there must be quantifiable value between a student-athlete and an individual or business when a collaboration is executed and completed.
